From July 18-21, 2011 the GeoPark was visited by Dr. Charalampos Fassoulas from Greece and Dr. Henning Zellmer from Germany as representatives of the European and global Geopark Network. Aim of the visit was to evaluate the Application Dossier of the Geopark to become member of the Network and to gain own impressions about the in- and outdoor facilities and activities. The result of this inspection was the base for a decision on September 16, 2011 about the membership of the Network.
